Bohunt Remembers WW1

This video shows a very clever way to engage students in showing their appreciation towards soldiers who risked everything during World War 1. I'd love to do something similar at my school in an act of remembrance.

On the Western Front

Here is an animated map showing WW1 events on the Western Front.

Fast Facts - World War One: Trench Life

Fast Facts - New Zealand: The First World War

A little surprise

I have just found a short note in the NZ Herald (Vol LIV Issue 16574, 25 June 1917, Page 7) that mentions that my great uncle Jack (Second Lieutenant John Wesley Cobb) was one of the last to leave Gallipoli during the evacuations. This is an interesting little snippet to add to my research on his life!

I've got goosebumps

This morning my student brought a photo of his great grandfather and great uncle to show me. In the picture the brothers sit together wearing their WW1 uniforms. In the lower right hand corner is a hole.

This is a photo of John and Charles which was found in their brother William's  breast pocket after he was fatally shot during WW1.

This gives me goosebumps.
